Frequently Asked Questions
Here are a list of some of the more common
questions we get asked. The answers provided are a general guide
only. If you have other questions or would like more specific information
either contact us or ask your skipper when you get onboard.
Question: What do I bring on
board?
Answer:
For day cruising, you
only need to bring non-black sole shoes, your camera and usual personal
items. Explorers should also bring a windproof jacket & walking shoes.
Windproof jackets are also recommended for the guided fishing charters.
Question: How easy is it to
get onboard and to move about?
Answer:
Overture is extremely
easy to board and all areas (except for the flybridge) are on one level or
at most, only three steps down. We have had guests in their nineties
onboard with no problems.
Question: Should I take
seasickness remedies before coming aboard?
Answer:
Power catamarans like
Overture are extremely stable and inside the sheltered waters of the
Marlborough Sounds, even more so. You are unlikely to be troubled with any
motion sickness and we have standard remedies onboard just in case.
Question: How do I stay in
touch with my business?
Answer:
Vodafone and Telecom's
cellphones and data networks (internet) have good coverage in the Sounds.
If reception is unavailable in some sheltered bays, it can normally be
picked up again when the boat repositions. Emergency communication is
available via the marine VHF broadcast network from anywhere in the Sounds
Question: What food is on
board?
Answer:
For day cruisers, you
can either bring your own food and beverages (including Marlborough wines
of course) or we can provide a food package for you at a cost of $20 per
head. Cooking appliances, fridges, a microwave, and all food and
beverage service items are onboard. Overnight or extended charterers
should discuss their catering requirements with us at the time of
booking.
Question: Need to organise
additional accommodation on land?
Answer:
We can arrange any
accommodation required prior to and after your charter. See the Lodging
link for a selection of the fine establishments recommended by us.
Question: I need a vehicle transfer
arranged.
Answer:
No problem, just
advise us what you need as we have access to various Limousines,
helicopters and tour companies. We can arrange it all for you.
Question: Where can we anchor
- how flexible is the cruise itinerary?
Answer: Both the skipper and the boat
are fairly flexible in their activities while you are on board. Ultimately
its your charter and if you wish to make changes along the way you are
more than welcome, although any changes will be accepted entirely at the
skippers discretion and are generally only affected by the weather or
safety concerns. |
